West Bryan County Fire Rescue responded 2nd due to an extremely large brush fire in Silo, originating
north of the Silo School.  WBCFR units were second due on the scene, and encountered an extremely
large amount of fire.  Brush 8 & Brush 801 were assigned to fire attack, Rescue 8 & Engine 7 were
assigned to structural protection.  Later arriving Battalion 7 helped tremendously by carrying
firefighters back and forth that were operating on the fire line as ground crews and carrying equipment
back and forth.  Chief Green assisted with Incident Command for the majority of the incident.  Very little
progress was made with the fire due to extremely high wind, some gusts being in excess of 60 MPH,
until around 9:00 PM when winds shifted directions and slowed down considerably.  Units from West
Bryan County Fire Rescue operated on the scene from approximately 1330 hours until 0145 hours.  A
total of 14 personnel from West Bryan County Fire Rescue responded to this incident.  Everyone did an
excellent job and worked extremely hard!  Initial estimates are that this fire burned approximately
2500-3000 acres!
